I had such a great time during Carson’s two year old birthday session on a beautiful Saturday morning near Madison, Indiana. I am loving working on these portrait sessions of beautiful little children. Carson is no exception. He is so full of life and smiles and I loved working with him.
I had the pleasure of visiting with little three year old Charlie for an outdoor portrait session near Madison Indiana. This little beauty is so sweet and had a great time playing in front of my camera. Just one look in her big brown eyes makes my heart melt!
A few fun facts about Charlie: She likes cheese, but only the yellow ones not the ones with holes. She doesn’t like sandwiches or pizza. 🙂
I absolutely love child photography, especially when their personalities really shine through in the photographs.
Here is a preview of my session with this little cutie.
I had so much fun capturing Jessica and Bobby’s summer Hanover Indiana wedding. The two met at Hanover College and decided to marry overlooking the Ohio River. It was a spectacular place for their ceremony as well as their portraits for the day. When Jessica and I met and discussed their Madison Indiana engagement session and Hanover College wedding, I couldn’t have been more excited.
Congratulations to Jessica and Bobby! Look for a full post to come!
I had so much fun working on this one year old session in Milton, Kentucky. Shantel and I discussed some concepts for the session prior and I love how they turned out! Parker is in my Graduates Program and I am looking forward to capturing his 18 months session this fall!
Is there more to photograph in Thailand than buttery bucolic beaches? Absolutely. After spending two weeks on a roaming photo tour of Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the Similan Islands, I’m convinced that The Land of Smiles has plenty more to offer than postcard images of tropical islands. Here’s a short photo guide to one of Southeast Asia’s most enigmatic countries.
The streets of Bangkok are full of contrasts and stories. I stayed in the area right around the Saphan Taksin BTS station and never really left the neighborhood, and there is a There is much to do and see when you visit Vietnam.

One of my favorite things to do when I travel, wander the streets with my iPhone.
I walked up Charoen Krung Rd towards Robinson Department Store, then down one of the many side streets and alleys. There was plenty of street photography action to drain my iPhone 7 battery before you can say Sawasdee.

Mango sticky rice. If I had to eat one dish every day for the rest of my life, this would be it.
One place I’ve always wanted to visit is Chiang Mai in the north. From digital nomads to backpackers to Asian tourists, it’s Thailands city of the moment.
Here are a few of my favorites from our time together. Enjoy!
I realized I hadn’t posted at all since announcing the big “C” with my mom. It has been a whirlwind of a month. I’ve been in full on planning mode for her benefit, which also will celebrate her birthday!
I’ve been super busy with shoots, edits and weddings this past month also. Here’s some info about the benefit. Spread, share and send your love our way! 🙂
We have had an amazing outpour of donations! I’ll post the full list this week! 🙂
Very happy to welcome baby girl Grayson into my Baby Collection! It’s been a very busy start to the season and this little lady made her debut just at the right time. Carrie and Josh are such great parents and already love this little lady to pieces.
I was very excited that I got to use my new baby stroller for this session! I’m sure I’ll get plenty of use out of it in the coming months. 🙂
I had a great morning meeting little Parker for his one year portrait session. The temperatures in Kentucky were pretty warm this weekend, but we scheduled for early morning and finished up before the heat of the day began. Here’s a little peak from this morning.
I wanted to post a brief entry to talk about my family’s portraits last weekend. I feel like I went through the gamet – planning, styling and then implementing our family portrait session. Albeit it only involved my parents, my brother and his family and my husband and I, it was still some work. I’m hoping that this helps some of my amazing clients (and future clients) in planning a successful family session!
We were on a real time crunch for our photos (more on that later) so we didn’t have a lot of time to get a photographer so I opted to purchase a remote shutter and enroll the help of a friend to help get the little one’s attention to the camera and click the shutter a few times for me too! Here is the process I went through:
1. Choose location. For me, I wanted to use my family’s property in Milton, Ky. and knew I wanted to use the old barn and also have a nature background.
2. Choose your color scheme. Knowing I was using the gray barn and the nature scene, I wanted something that could complement either. I told the family to pick either white, dark gray or navy blue. I also allowed one person in each “family group” to wear a plaid. This would maximize us at three plaid patterns that I knew I could evenly disperse throughout the poses. (We all went with gray or white) We decided that it didn’t matter for sleeve length and ended up having a good mix of long, short and no sleeves. I also told the family jeans (didn’t matter the wash) and any shoe or sandal (avoiding sneakers if you could).
3. Choose your time. I knew the lighting is MONEY first thing in the morning at my mom’s house but that it didn’t work with anyone’s schedule (and we DEF didn’t need to deal with the craziness of one another that early!) We went with evening so we could get some golden hour love and I knew that the temps would cool off (it was kinda warm!).
So then it was up to me (the photog) to do our posing and workflow (so leave that to your photog too!). I knew I wanted some smiling poses and then wanted some of us just hanging out – so I handed over my remote to my 3-year-old nephew for a part of the session too.
Here’s how a few of our family photos turned out. I’m loving them – and my crazy family! (And through this, I realized that my hair is getting REALLY long.)
I loved meeting up with Sara Kate on her family’s farm in Milton, Kentucky for her senior portraits. She is graduating from Trimble County High School this week and plans to attend the University of Kentucky. She is such a beautiful, intelligent young lady and will go far with her amazing attitude.
